10 Chamomile
Chamomile is a well-known medicinal plant that is becoming increasingly popular in floristry as a summer and aromatic accessory. The white and yellow daisy family, which is otherwise only known from cottage gardens, looks cheerful, light and natural in a bouquet.
The delicate flower of this fragrant lady consists of a yellow flower head and white bracts. The otherwise bare stem has strong branches at its upper ends, so that up to five flowers can sometimes be counted at each end. And this is exactly where the great strength of chamomile lies. The flower, which appears rather shy individually but is very lovable, manages to overcome its shyness in this large number and awaken the very feelings in us that we otherwise associate with summer.
A bunch of white chamomiles feels most at home in all arrangements that consist of summery colors. These essentially include orange, yellow, white and green, but also lavender, pink, cream, beige and red. You can freely choose which cut flowers are allowed to shine in the colors mentioned. Chamomile is a very versatile accessory that, thanks to its simple, daisy-like blossom, can easily be added to the side of any cut flower, regardless of the occasion.
Chamomile, botanically Matricaria chamomilla, is said to have a preservative effect on its surroundings in a bouquet. As far as the plant itself is concerned, it doesn't hurt to let the cut flowers benefit from their healing properties. And for inspiration: A summer bouquet with a bunch of white chamomiles could consist of a few yellow roses, yellow germini, a yellow statice and of course the Matricaria chamomilla. Several pistochia, salal and leather fern provide the natural green.
